Artists paint outdoors in Wausau

Artists from across Wisconsin took their work outside Saturday.

It was part of the Woodson Art Museum's "Plein-Air Paint Out".

Organizers said 13 artists painted outdoor scenes at different spots in the city.

Artists said it's a great way for people to improve their skills and inspire others to get involved.

"They smack a freshness and immediacy and part of the joy of Plein-Air painting is that you carry that idea back to the studio with you," said Raleigh Kinney, Plein-Air Painter.

All the artist's works will be on display at the Woodson Art Museum Saturday evening.

Museum officials said many of the painting will also be on display through the end of August.
