APPLETON, Wis. (AP) -- Police are investigating train collisions with pedestrians that killed two people in the same area of east-central Wisconsin.
A 64-year-old Appleton man was killed around 1:20 a.m. Monday when he was struck by a train in Appleton.
WLUK-TV reports police say the man was lying on the tracks and didn't respond to the train's repeated whistles. Officials say he was hit and dragged about 300 feet.
The man's name was not immediately released.
Just over 12 hours later, another person was struck and killed by a train in Oshkosh around 1:45 p.m. Monday.
Police aren't sure why the male victim was on the train tracks. The name and age of that victim are not known.
