Another winning lottery ticket sold in central Wisconsin

All eyes are on Drew's Piggly Wiggly in Merrill.

The store sold a Megabucks ticket worth $1.4 million.

The winner: still unknown.

"A lot of talk, a lot of chatter, the whole store is excited and everybody's just trying to guess who the winner is," said Steve Drew, Drew's Piggly Wiggly Co-Owner.

Drew said the lucky sale came as a surprise.

"Going through the paperwork she noticed that Drew's Piggly Wiggly of Merrill had the $1.4 million lottery ticket bought here," said Drew.

Drew said the store has never sold a winning jackpot ticket before and everyone's talking about it.

"There's been some lottery tickets, instant cash prizes that we've had but not somebody being an instant millionaire, no," said Drew.

The $1.4 million dollar lottery ticket sold at Drew's Piggly Wiggly is the second one sold in our area in about a month.

Last month, a Powerball ticket worth $1 million was sold at Krist Food Mart in Antigo.

"We were so excited, we were hoping it was someone from town," said Wanda Seis, Krist Food Mart Cashier.

But workers and lottery officials are still waiting for someone to claim the prize there too.

"Every day we get customers that come in and ask if anyone turned it in yet and we're like nope, not yet, haven't heard anything and they're all like what if they lost it," said Seis.

For now, both stores and communities are waiting for the winners to step forward, wherever they are.

Lottery officials said since mid-May, there have been five jackpot tickets sold in Wisconsin.
