Gas prices on the way down


Gas prices are falling rapidly in Wisconsin. Prices have fallen as low as $3.43 in Wausau. That's much lower than the state average of about $3.60 according to

Analysts say several refineries that were offline are now back up and running. Now that it's fixed, prices are falling dramatically.

"With what we saw a few weeks ago, several refineries went down all at once creating a havoc on gas prices," Petroleum Expert Patrick DeHaan said. "It's a very unlikely scenario but it could happen again."

Right now, many drivers say the relief at the pump is putting a few more pennies in their pocket.

"It was crazy to see it go up as fast as it did. It went up 20 cents that one weekend, it seemed like a day or two. And now it's going down, it seems like 10 cents every day," Derek Laher of Rib Mountain said.

A gallon of gas will cost you a little bit more in some parts of our viewing area. The average in Marshfield is $3.67, while in Rhinelander it will cost you about $3.75 a gallon to fill up. That's all according to GasBuddy.
