Disabled car leads to recovering stolen gun

WAUSAU (WAOW) - What started as a disabled car on state Highway 29 near Wausau led to the recovery of a pistol stolen with a cache of other guns several months ago.

Sgt. Rich Reichenberger of the State Patrol said Friday a .45-caliber pistol was found in a backpack on June 20.

Reichenberger said the gun was found near the abandoned car, and was traced to a robbery at Condition One in Wausau.

All the guns taken in that heist have now been recovered, he said.

Landorous Kirkwood, 22, of Wausau, was arrested in the disabled-car incident. He was charged in Marathon County Circuit Court with felony theft of movable property and misdemeanor counts of carrying a concealed weapon and possession of marijuana.

Kirkwood is set to return to court July 26 for a preliminary hearing, according to online court records.
