Police: Lincoln Co. inmate hit, bit corrections officers

An inmate at the Lincoln County Jail is accused of injuring several corrections officers.

Lincoln County Sheriff's officials say a 28-year-old man from Waupun who is being held at the jail, could face further charges after the incident.

Authorities say corrections officers were called to the jail Sunday morning after a report of a medical emergency.

They say the 28-year-old inmate had reportedly suffered a seizure, but when corrections officers arrived at the cell block, he jumped up and hit one of them.

While corrections officers were trying to move him to a holding cell, they say he bit a second corrections officer.

Then, a third corrections officer was injuring while removing a tazer probe.

All three of the corrections officers and the inmate were taken to the hospital to be checked out.

Investigators say they're waiting for reports and will review video of the incident before sending a report to the District Attorney's office.

Lincoln County authorities say the inmate was being held at the Lincoln County Jail due to overcrowding in Portage County.
