UPDATE: Man killed in bicycle crash from Marshfield

Marshfield police said Wednesday that the 56-year-old bicyclist killed in a crash with a semi-truck was from Marshfield.

Lt. Darren Larson said Paul Weigel died in the crash.

Exactly why the crash happened was still under investigation, Larson said. “There were certainly witnesses.”

The crash happened about 4 p.m. Tuesday on Veterans Parkway and 8th Street. Veterans Parkway is state Highway 13 as it goes through Marshfield.

Marshfield Police officers say a 56-year-old man is dead after a crash involving a bicycle and a semi-truck.

The crash shut down a portion of a major street in Marshfield.

Patrol Sgt. Dennis Keffer said the 56-year-old man was riding the bicycle when the crash happened about 4 p.m. Tuesday on Veterans Parkway and 8th Street.

The man was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital where he was pronounced dead. His name is not being released.

The northbound lanes of Veterans Parkway were closed as the investigation continued, police said.

Keffer said a stoplight provides traffic control at the intersection.

Veterans Parkway is also state Highway 13.

No other details were immediately released.
