Jaycee's 4th of July Celebration wraps up in Wausau

The Jaycee's 4th of July Celebration wrapped up Sunday night at Marathon Park in Wausau.

Warm weather helped make the annual event a success.

Organizers say around 5,000 people packed the grandstands on Sunday for the demolition derby. It's one of the celebration's most popular events.

Even though event officials say they aren't sure exactly how many people attended this year's event, they say attendance could be up as much as 25% from last year.

"Families want to get together and spend the time together," said Deanne Hayes. "With the weather not being so hot and humid this year, families are coming out and spending time together."

Organizers say there were no reports of any major problems at this year's celebration.

The event wrapped up at 7 p.m.
