Wausau Police waiting for medical records after deadly crash
WAUSAU (WAOW) - The Wausau Police Department says its waiting to look at medical records to get a better idea of what may have caused a deadly crash on the city's west side.
Police say 85-year-old Frances M. Wilk of Wausau died when the car she was in was crushed between a cargo truck and a sports utility vehicle as she waited for a red light to switch.
The crash happened last month at the intersection of 17th Avenue and Stewart Avenue.
Eyewitnesses have estimated that the driver of the SUV, a 51-year-old Wausau man, was going 40 mph to 50 mph when he slammed into the back of Wilk's car, pushing it beneath the truck, investigators said.
Capt. Ben Bliven says the district attorney's office is in the process of obtaining medical records to review.
Bliven says investigators are waiting to see what may be revealed in those medical records to determine if any citations will be issued in this crash.
