The university founded by former Haitian President Jean-Bertrand Aristide is opening a law school program.
University of San Francisco law professor Nicole Phillips will be among the new faculty members.
She says the four-year program at the University of Aristide Foundation will train about 150 students a year to become Haiti's next generation of lawyers. The first classes are scheduled to begin this fall.
The law program also hopes to bring U.S. legal scholars to help students learn the profession.
