ROSENDALE (WAOW) -

Three people were hurt when an ambulance flipped over on Highway 26 near Rosendale.

Officials with Meriter Health Services in Madison say the ambulance was traveling to Appleton to pick up a baby on a nonemergency call when it went off the road in Fond du Lac County around 12:40 p.m. Wednesday.

Five Meriter employees but no patients were in the ambulance. A neonatal doctor suffered head injuries and was airlifted to a hospital in Neenah. The physician's condition was not immediately available.

Two other medical personnel were taken to hospitals in Waupun and Fond du Lac, respectively. Meriter says their injuries aren't believed to be serious.

Meriter says the ambulance driver and another staff member were not hurt.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
