Softball tournament brings thousands to area diamonds
WAUSAU (WAOW) -
More than 100 softball teams from across the state are in Wausau this weekend.
This is the second year in a row the area has hosted the Wisconsin Amateur Softball Association Tournament.
Thousands of players and their fans spent the weekend at Sunnyvale Park and other local diamonds.
Organizers said the tournament continues to grow.
"We're probably talking 3,000 to 5,000 people just at this park alone. D.C. Everest probably had a thousand, West probably a thousand, and Wausau East, probably closer to 2,000," said Dick Buskov, Umpire.
Players and coaches said the tournament is a great way to work on skills during the off-season.
