UPDATE: 5-year-old boy OK after being hit by car in Wood County

A 5-year-old boy was taken to the hospital Sunday afternoon after police say he was hit by a car.

Wood County Sheriff's officials say the crash happened in Babcock.

They say the boy crossed Taylor Avenue from behind a parked car, and that's when he was hit by a car heading east.

Authorities say Cale Seivers, 5, of Wisconsin Rapids was taken by ambulance to St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.

The Nursing Supervisor says Seivers was checked out and released.

According to a press release from the Wood County Sheriff's Department, witnesses say the car had almost stopped before it hit the boy.

The driver of the car was not injured.
