Sheila MacVicar latest hire for Al Jazeera

NEW YORK (AP) -

Veteran TV news correspondent Sheila MacVicar is coming back -- this time for Al Jazeera America.

The news network is gearing up for a debut in late August and has been hiring journalists. On Monday, Al Jazeera America announced that MacVicar will report for "America Tonight," a prime time newsmagazine that it is modeling after Ted Koppel's old "Nightline" at ABC News.

MacVicar worked for more than a decade at ABC, where she was a London-based correspondent. She subsequently worked in London for CNN and CBS News, but left in 2010 after her husband got a new job and they moved to Paris. Now they're based in Washington.

She says she's looking forward to reporting news in the evening and that it will be a contrast to the opinion-based shows on its rivals.
