Car dealership in Schofield vandalized

Posted:
MARATHON COUNTY (WAOW) -

Everest Metro Police are searching for whoever vandalized several cars at a car dealership.

Police say it happened over the weekend around the same time two cemeteries were also vandalized.

13 cars at the Fred Mueller lot in Schofield are now damaged. Police now have a beer bottle, surveillance videos from several surrounding businesses, and hand prints to work with.

The general manager at Fred Mueller Automotive tells us police notified them of the damage early Sunday morning.

They say several cars on the main lot were damaged and the Mazda facility that's being renovated right now was broken into. But the general manager says damage there was minor.

Police say this all happened around the same time two cemeteries in Wausau were also vandalized. But they say it's too early to tell if the events are connected.

Fred Mueller Automotive says it will donate $1,000 to those cemeteries.

"We have probably a few thousand dollars worth of damage that can easily be fixed, the more insignificant part we actually want to focus more on doing what we can do to help out the cemeteries that's really what it's all about, our damage and our inconveniences are minimal compared to that," said Fred Mueller Automotive General Manager, Joe Mueller.

Fred Mueller Automotive is also offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in this case.
