WAUSAU (WAOW) -

Despite the high temperatures hundreds of people still showed up for Wausau's concert on the square.

The 400 Block was packed earlier Wednesday night. People brought shade umbrella, hats, sunglasses, and lots of water.

Event organizers say the sprinklers were on the entire time for anyone looking for some relief.

I spoke with two men who say the concert on the square is a tradition they're not willing to give up just because it's hot.

"Concert on the square is one of those unique things about Wausau that kind of transcends the weather, I have a lot of friends that come down here and meet we socialize have fun, a little thing like the weather isn't going to keep us away," said Wausau resident Patrick Washburn.

"No it's not too hot you just have to be prepared and have a hat if you have a shaved head, drink plenty of fluids and it should work out pretty well," said Wausau resident, Kurt Schubring.

Event organizers say the band that performed Wednesday received two cases of water to help them stay hydrated throughout their performance.
