WAUSAU (WAOW) -

A new website designed to help parents raise children went live on Friday.

The website is www.raisegreatkids.org. It's sponsored by the United Way, private donors, and the Early Years Coalition. It's designed to help parents invest in their children especially when they're young.

To celebrate the website launch, organizers planned a kickoff party at Wausau's 400 block. It starts Friday at 6:00 p.m. It comes in conjunction with the Wausau Area Events hosting of "Screen on the Green" event, which is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. The "Raise Great Kids" event was allowed to join with that activity to promote the new website.

As for the website, organizers at the United Way say it can help parents navigate raising children and get help doing that from the entire community.

"We know that we have the people with the knowledge so this will become hopefully a communication channel for them," said Deanna Schuette, United Way associate director of community impact.

The "Raise Great Kids" event runs Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
