Students from the Middle East and North Africa visit Wausau

Some students from the Middle East and North Africa are visiting Wausau as part of a college summer learning program.

I met 21 students from 15 different countries, including Lebanon, Yemen, Syria and Morocco.

They stopped at the Boys and Girls Club in Wausau Friday to volunteer. One of the many stops on their agenda.

It's part of the Middle Eastern Partnership Intiative Program administered by Georgetown University.

It's a six-week program that focuses on developing leadership skills and learning about American society and culture.

Georgetown University works with Northcentral Technical College in Wausau.

Students travel to Wausau and volunteer at various places for one week.

"Each one of us is trying to take the best from this experience and try to take advantage of every single minute," said Amina, from Algeria.

"We love the people here they are very simple people and loveable and I love them I really love them," said Muhammed from Yemen.

The students live with Wausau families during their stay.

The group leaves Wausau on Sunday.
