FRIENDSHIP (WAOW) – Dense fog and the rising sun contributed to a crash that sent 11 farm workers traveling in a van to local hospitals, the Adams County Sheriff's Department said Wednesday.
All suffered non-life-threatening injuries, Deputy Sheriff Terry Fahrenkrug said. Most were treated and released.
The van carrying 15 adult farm workers from Mauston was turning off state Highway 82 about 13 miles north of Wisconsin Dells about 6 a.m. when a semi-truck crashed into the rear of it, Fahrenkrug said. Both were traveling eastbound.
“Visibility was almost down to nothing,” the chief deputy said. “He just never saw the van. It was fortunate no one was seriously hurt.”
No traffic citations have been issued, but the crash remains under investigation, Fahrenkrug said.
