WAUSAU (WAOW) -
Most of the gravestones vandalized at two Wausau cemeteries have been repaired.
Earlier this month, cemetery leaders said 56 stones were damaged at Saint Joseph's Cemetery and Pine Grove Cemetery.
Both are on Grand Avenue.
Leaders said over the weekend, five volunteers and stone experts helped repair most of the damage.
"Initially we thought it would take a lot longer than it did, we expected it would be a couple of weekend's work, but with their determination to get it done, they were able to put it all back together quickly," said Patty Grimm, Wausau Cemetery Association General Manager.
Cemetery officials said there's still some detail work to finish at the grave sites.
Officials there said they still don't know who damaged the gravestones.
