ROTHSCHILD (WAOW) – A 13-year-old bicyclist was knocked over by a sports utility vehicle at an intersection in Rothschild on Wednesday, police said.
The SUV pulled away from a stop light and crashed into the girl at the intersection of Grand Avenue and the state Highway 29 eastbound off ramp, Rothschild Police Sgt. Brad Johnson said.
“She wasn't run over. She got knocked down. She had some cuts and bruises and abrasions,” Johnson said.
After the crash, the driver got out of the vehicle, helped the girl get up, determined she wasn't seriously hurt and he drove away, Johnson said.
No investigators were contacted until the girl got home and her mother called police, Johnson said.
Because there were some minor injuries, police want to talk to the driver, described as a man in his 40s or 50s with gray hair, Johnson said. He drove a turquoise-colored SUV with Wisconsin license plates, the investigator said.
