Crews are set to begin maintenance work on bridges located on Business 51 in Schofield, and on Business 51 in Whiting starting on Monday, Aug. 19.
Kristin McHugh, WisDOT Region Communications Manager, said in a news release that the $392,000 project will cause some minor delays, such as single lane closures, during peak travel hours.
McHugh said that the work to the Eau Claire River bridge includes:
Repairing and placing a polymer overlay on the bridge deck
Restoring the river bed nearer to its original elevation
Repairing the existing sidewalk and curb and gutter
What this means for commuters is that the intersection with Business 51, South Grand Ave and Drott Street will be closed, and the traffic signal will also be deactivated. “Access will be maintained,” explained the news release, “to adjacent business and property owners. Driveway access may be limited due to multiple parking lots that are linked together.”
