MASH-themed blood drive attracts donors

A blood drive in Merrill on Thursday came with a twist.

Kitchenette Park was decked out with camouflage and dog tags for the 21st Annual Merrill MASH blood drive. It's held at the beginning of August to boost summer blood supply. Organizers say donated blood is a little more fun in a tent or in the "Blood Mobile."

"We have a lot of people who come out to the MASH blood drive every year because they love the experience, they love being outside and donating blood with a huge group of other people," said Angela Brumm of the Community Blood Center. "It's just a really fun blood drive."

Blood drive leaders expected more than 200 people to donate.
