UPDATE: 79-year-old man killed in Waupaca Co. crash


A 79-year-old Antigo man died when the car he was driving blew a tire, went into a ditch and crashed into a tree, the Waupaca County Sheriff's Department said Wednesday.

The crash that killed Wiley Crandall happened Tuesday afternoon in rural Waupaca County, the sheriff's department said in a statement.


One person has died after a crash in Waupaca County early Tuesday evening.

According to the Waupaca County Sheriff's Department, the crash happened at 5:17 p.m. on Highway 49, just north of Elm Valley Road in the Township of Waupaca.

In a news release, Deputy David Huberty said a vehicle's front tire blew out, causing the car to enter the ditch and hit a tree in a wooded area.

The driver, who officials say is from the Antigo area, was airlifted to the hospital but later died from injuries sustained.

The name of the victim has not been released.
