Wausau search for convicted felon continues

Wausau police continue their search for a convicted felon that ran from them after officers tried to make a traffic stop Thursday afternoon.

Wausau Police Lt. Michael Juedes said an officer tried to stop the driver after noticing a cracked windshield on the car he was driving.

"The driver slowed down at first and then sped up, leading to a short chase. When the suspect, Peter Yang, did stop the car he got out and ran off," said Lt. Juedes.

Police searched for Yang but did not find him.

They did arrest the owner of the car.

Police searched the car and tell Newsline 9 they found a handgun that was stolen in Tomahawk last weekend along with drug paraphernalia.

0nlkine records show the 24-year old Yang was recently released from prison after serving time on a drug conviction.

If you have any information on Yang's whereabouts you are asked to call 715-261-7800.
