Many students in our area won't return to school until after Labor Day.
But classes started Wednesday morning at Northland Lutheran High School in Kronenwetter.
School administrators say nearly 80 students are enrolled this year.
Students we talked with say they are glad to be back.
"It is good to see my friends," said Adam Jensen of Wisconsin Rapids.
School Administrator/Principal Ryan Wiechmann says many of the students live in communities outside the Wausau area.
"We draw from throughout the region so some of the students haven't seen each other this summer. We are a family and its great to brings students in to be a part of that and see how it develops. It is really special," said Wiechmann.
The school also has a new security system at the main entrance. It was purchased with a two-thousand dollar gift from the school's graduating class of 2013.
