Figi's to get a new owner

Marshfield-based Figi's will get a new owner.

In a news release, Mason Companies of Chippewa Falls announced it will buy Figi's.

Figi's employs 250 people in Marshfield, Stevens Point and Neillsville.

During the holiday season it employs thousands of workers who prepare the company's specialty food boxes and baskets.

Marshfield Mayor Chris Meyer says he sees the sale as a positive move.

"Figi's has a long historical past in Marshfield, we are glad to see them sold and look forward to having some guarantees that they will continue to operate the way they always have," said Meyer.

The Mason Companies news release says company leaders are looking forward to continuing to do business in the communities Figi's operates businesses.

They did not make note of any changes.

Mason Companies is a retailer which sells footwear, clothing and other merchandise.
