UPDATE: Husband arrested in wife's death in Park Falls
PARK FALLS (WAOW) -
A Park Falls man was arrested in the stabbing death of his wife in Park Falls on the same day court documents were filed accusing him of battery of his wife just days earlier, authorities said.
William Rambo, 46, was arrested Thursday night on a tentative charge of first degree intentional homicide, according to the Wisconsin Attorney General's office.
Park Falls police say they responded to the 200 block of 2nd Ave. North in Park Falls just before 5:30 p.m. Thursday. They say they found Rambo's wife, Dawn Rambo, 37, suffering from multiple stab wounds.
Dawn Rambo was taken to the hospital in Park Falls where she died, officials said.
No formal charges were filed against William Rambo on Friday, but he appeared before a judge and bond was set at $500,000, Price County District Attorney Mark Fuhr said.
The prosecutor said he did not expect to file charges against Rambo until later next week.
According to online court records, William Rambo was arrested on charges of battery and disorderly conduct almost two weeks ago. Charges were just filed against him Thursday. He had appeared in court August 12 and posted a $500 signature bond. He was not to have contact with his wife, Dawn Rambo, without prior written consent, according to court records.
The district attorney said the charges filed against Rambo on Aug. 12 involved domestic abuse.
"I know the wife was the victim," Fuhr said.
Officers from multiple agencies worked through the night investigating two homes and two vehicles. That included the Wisconsin State Patrol, the Wisconsin Department of Justice, the Park Falls Fire Department, and the Wisconsin State Crime Lab, according to Park Falls Police Chief Scott Straetz.
