Local farmer's market makes it easier to buy local

A local farmer's market is making is easier for people to buy fresh food.

The Kronenwetter Farmer's Market now accepts "Market Tokens." The tokens are part of the EBT Food share payment program. It's partly funded by the Marathon County Health Department. Farmer's market participants say it's a great way to get everyone involved.

"People have a chance to come out and by nice fresh vegetables. Not saying grocery stores aren't good but we know this is the best and I think it's just nice," said Judi Hartman of Athens.

Village leaders are on hand most of the market days to allow Food share participants to take advantage of the program. The market takes place every Sunday at Sunset Park beginning at 9 a.m. It runs through October.
