MARATHON COUNTY (WAOW) -

A Marathon County man suffered minor injuries after a trench collapsed on him Wednesday afternoon.

This happened around 5:00 p.m. Wednesday at 2263 County Highway I in the Town of Franzen.

According to Wittenberg Fire Chief David Owen, the 32-year-old man was working in the trench when some mud fell on him, burying him.

Owen said it took crews about two hours to dig the man out.

The man suffered bumps and bruises from the ordeal, Owen said.

A medical helicopter was called to the scene as a precaution, according to Owen.

Rosholt and Wittenberg fire crews worked together on the scene with assistance from the Marathon County Sheriff's Department, Owen said.
