Man arrested in Waupaca Co. for OWI with children in vehicle

Wisconsin State Patrol officials say a 37-year-old man was arrested Friday for an OWI in Waupaca County, with two children in the vehicle.

Patrol officers say it happened around 9 p.m. near State Highway 110 and County Highway C.

Officials say Niles Verbanac, 37, of Briggsville was driving under the influence and had a 2-year-old and 7-year-old child in the car with him.

State Patrol officials say Verbanac was stopped for driving left of the center line and not having trailer lights.

Authorities say a pipe used to smoke marijuana was thrown out the window before the vehicle stopped.

State Patrol officials say Verbanac failed sobriety tests and was arrested for a first offense OWI by drugs.

Police also say they found synthetic marijuana in the vehicle.

State Patrol officials say the children were taken from the scene by a family member.

Authorities say Verbanac was taken to the Waupaca County Jail.
