Officials report few Labor Day weekend crashes so far

As drivers get ready to head home from the holiday weekend, State Patrol officials said it's been a relatively safe one.

Officials said they've had very few accidents so far this weekend.

But authorities also said they'd made multiple OWI arrests.

State Patrol officers said they've had extra patrols on the highway to keep drivers safe.

"We're on pretty much all weekend through, we'll go in all the way through Tuesday afternoon, we'll kind of keep people out there because it kind of has a trickle effect, some people go up early, some people come home late," said Sgt. Rich Reichenberger, Wisconsin State Patrol.

State Patrol officials expect Monday to be the busiest travel day.

They said common sense points, like remembering to slow down and keeping your distance from other drivers, can prevent accidents.
