WISCONSIN RAPIDS (WAOW) - A 24-year-old Marshfield man was convicted Wednesday of three felonies in dousing a pregnant woman in gasoline and threatening to set her on fire.
Tyler Ress pleaded no contest to second-degree recklessly endangering safety, strangulation and suffocation and false imprisonment in a plea bargain in which four other charges were dismissed, according to online court records.
The pleas came as Ress' three-day jury trial was set to start.
Wood County Circuit Judge Nicholas Brazeau Jr. ordered Ress to return to court Oct. 18 for sentencing.
Investigators said Ress punched a 28-year-old pregnant woman multiple times in the stomach last September in a domestic violence incident.
According to court records, Ress currently is an inmate at a state prison in Waupun in an unrelated case
