Birds in Art exhibit kicks off in Wausau

People flocked to the Woodson Art Museum for the 38th annual "Birds in Art" exhibit. The event opened Saturday morning with artists demonstrating their skills.

Organizers said more than 600 artists entered their works into the exhibit. Only 91 artists were accepted.

They said this event brings in people from all over the world and has earned Wausau worldwide recognition.

"Many, many people who make annual pilgrimages to Birds in Art and share their impressions and thoughts with us," said Kathy Foley, Woodson Art Museum Director.

Organizers said "Birds in Art" will be on display at the museum for the next nine weeks. They said all three Artageous events are expected to see about 50,000 people.

Admission is free.
