22-acre fire in Wood County

Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources officials say a fire in southern Wood County destroyed 22 acres of land.

DNR Ranger Brian Luebke says it started about 10 a.m. Saturday, near Adams Avenue and 10th Avenue, just north of the Adams County/Wood County line.

Officials say eight departments helped put out the fire fairly quickly. They say some firefighters did have heat exhaustion, but no other injuries were reported. Authorities say the land is mostly state forest/industrial land.

No word on a cause at this time.
