RHINELANDER (WAOW) -

Correction:  Flu shots are now available at the Oneida County Health Department for a fee.

By noon Monday, about one dozen people had been vaccinated.

Health officials say they have the regular dose and expect to receive the high dose shot later this week.

Experts advise anyone over six months old to get the shot.

Health officials say, certain people are at a higher risk for the flu, including children, the elderly and pregnant women.

"It varies day by day," said Dawn Klewer, an Oneida County public health nurse. "It starts out a little slower and then October we get a lot busier."

The Oneida County flu clinics are free and will continue to run until early October.

The health department is giving the vaccinations daily, from 8:30-4:30 p.m.
