Man pleads not guilty in 2008 Wood Co. killing

WISCONSIN RAPIDS (WAOW) - A man already in prison pleaded not guilty Thursday to charges accusing him of killing a Wisconsin Rapids man five years ago.

Joseph Reinwand, 54, was charged with first-degree intentional homicide and arson in the slaying after prosecutors learned new information from one of Reinwand's former cell mates.

Reinwand is accused of fatally shooting 35-year-old Dale Meister three times at his home in Wisconsin Rapids in 2008.

Meister had been in a child custody dispute with Reinwand's daughter, who was Meister's former girlfriend, court records said.

One of Reinwand's one-time prison cell mates told authorities that Reinwand confessed to killing Meister and even reenacted it, the criminal complaint said.

No trial date was immediately set.
