Posted: Updated:
LINCOLN COUNTY (WAOW) -

A 58-year-old motorcyclist was hospitalized in critical condition Friday following a crash north of Tomahawk, the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department said.

The driver, from Rio, lost control of his motorcycle Thursday evening after leaving a tavern on Highway L about six miles north of Tomahawk, sheriff spokesman Mike Caylor said.

"He came out of the driveway and hit gravel on the side of the road and lost control," Caylor said.

The man's wife was a passenger on the motorcycle. Both were taken to a hospital in Tomahawk and the husband was later transferred to St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield, Caylor said.

The man was listed in critical condition but his injuries were not life-threatening, Caylor said. His wife's injuries were not considered serious.

Caylor said the motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, was tested for alcohol and investigators were awaiting the results.
