UPDATE: 2 teens arrested in connection with downtown Madison robbery

MADISON (WKOW) -- The Madison Police Department confirms two suspects have been arrested in connection with a downtown robbery.

Police say they will not release the names or photos of the suspects yet, until Madison Police Spokesmen Joel DeSpain has been notified and comes out with a press release. Police say the robbery was a targeted attack.

The Madison Police Department has recovered the victim's backpack and the weapon used in the incident, which is a gun.

On Wednesday, two suspects who are 17 and 18 years old, robbed a 19-year-old victim at gunpoint and made off with a backpack containing his wallet and keys. Madison police say friends of the victim chased the suspects.

"There were shots fired, but we don't have enough information to suggest it was fired at a person," said Madison Police Spokesmen Joel DeSpain. "There is a possibility that the shot was fired into the air."

No one was hurt.

According to the Madison Police Department, the names and photos of the arrested suspects will be released later in the day on Thursday.
