KRONENWETTER (WAOW) -
Plans to pay for sewer and drainage improvements in Kronenwetter are moving forward. A pipe is being installed to drain overflowing water from a neighborhood pond.
Tuesday night, board members voted to split the cost of that. The village will pay for just more than half of it, with the rest coming from people living in the affected areas.
Previously, those people were going to have to fund the entire project.
"The village does not want to pump anymore. So hence we had to use these unadjusted water levels from the highest levels we've ever seen which was in 2011," said Kronenwetter Village Administrator Richard Downey.
"I don't want an assessment of $2,100 on our house. Do I want everyone to have an assessment on their homes? No I don't want that either. I think they're moving closer to a solution but I don’t think that's it," said Kronenwetter resident Bruce Fisher.
The project is expected to cost about $600,000. A meeting is scheduled next month where Kronenwetter residents will be able to offer input on this latest move. The plan could still change.
