MILWAUKEE (AP) -
Milwaukee's fire chief has suspended nine firefighters for an undisclosed reason.
Fire Chief Mark Rohling released a statement, saying, "The events under investigation in no way had any negative impact to the citizens we serve. We rightfully hold ourselves to the highest standards to ensure not only the most professional service delivery but also fostering a safe work environment based upon the ideals of mutual respect and personal and professional integrity."
The chief says his department is working with the city attorney as the investigation progresses.
Mayor Tom Barrett's office said Barrett is aware of the allegations and has encouraged Rohling to be complete in the investigation and take the allegations seriously.
It is not known at this time why they were suspended.
