MARSHFIELD (WAOW) -
A leading biotechnology company opened its new Marshfield laboratory on Thursday.
The company called Prevention Genetics tests DNA for more than 800 different genetic disorders.
The company's mission is to prevent human disease and disability through genetic testing.
About 100 people, including Marshfield's mayor and the founder of the company, attended Thursday's ribbon cutting.
"Our number one priority at Prevent Genetics is patient health, and it's wonderful to be in a town that has so much priority and emphasis on healthcare," said Michael Chicka, molecular geneticist with Prevention Genetics.
The new lab in the Mill Creek Business Park has 50,000 square feet and employs around 90 people.
