Plover man pleads not guilty in August killing

STEVENS POINT (WAOW) - A Plover man pleaded not guilty Monday to charges accusing him of killing a 36-year-old woman who was a neighbor in an apartment building.

No trial date was immediately set.

Jose Luis Flores Aca, 32, was charged with first-degree intentional homicide, first-degree sexual assault and hiding a corpse in the Aug. 7 death of Jamie Koch at her apartment in Plover.

Aca told investigators he was returning from an evening at the bar and had just been unable to talk to a former girlfriend when Koch asked "Hi, how are you?" as he stood in the hallway of the building where he and Koch had separate apartments, the criminal complaint said.

Aca said Koch invited him inside her apartment and he eventually "threw her a punch" and she fell down, the complaint said.

Aca said he used his hands and Koch's bra to strangle her, the complaint said.

Koch's body was found in a partially burned car near a farm field in rural Waupaca County, police said.
