Man shot, wounded during Wis. home invasion

RACINE, Wis. (AP) -- -

Racine police say a would-be robber was shot and seriously wounded during a home invasion.

Officers were called around 2 a.m. Tuesday on a report of someone being shot. About the same time police dispatch got a call about a home invasion. The robbery victim reported he fired shots at the suspect.

Police say a 33-year-old Racine man suspected in the home invasion was shot. The Journal Times reports he was taken to Froedtert Hospital in the Milwaukee area with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities say the home invasion apparently was not random but was a targeted robbery attempt.

Police are still investigating.
