Cooking for a Cure

WAUSAU (WAOW) -

Pink was the color of the evening at Cooking for a Cure event Thursday.

About 75 people attended the annual Susan G. Komen fundraiser, including Newsline 9's Melissa Langbehn.

Wausau area businesses donated raffle prizes and diners enjoyed wine before a cooking lesson. Event organizers say this is a popular event for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

"I think it's because each one is generally touched by someone, their family, their friends, their moms, who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. One in eight women will be diagnosed. So if they don't know somebody now, it is likely that they possibly could in the future," said Sandy Draeger, President of Susan G. Komen Central Wisconsin Affiliate.

This was the sixth year for the 'In the Pink' benefit.
