A new project is flying into the Wausau area.
Bird sculptures are popping up near the Highway 51/29 overpass on Highway 52 parkway. The birds are designed out of scrap metal and have LED lights shining underneath them.
Crews are installing the birds in the medians. City council members say the new art is designed to point people downtown.
“When you can create a vision for a city and enhance the area i think it brings a lot of value to the community,” said Wausau Alderman David Oberbeck.
The project costs about $220,000. Council members say the birds should all be standing by the end of the month.
