Members of House leave Washington during shutdown

Posted:
WASHINGTON DC (WAOW) -

Members of the House of Representatives left the Capitol Saturday, without reaching an agreement on reopening the government or increasing the debt ceiling.

Some lawmakers are heading home for a short recess this weekend, with no vote expected on any potential House deal until Monday evening.

Newsline 9 reached out to Republican Congressman Sean Duffy and Democratic Congressman Ron Kind to see if they were traveling home as well – our calls and emails were not returned.

We also tweeted at the representatives, but received no response there either.

Now the focus shifts to the Senate, which is expected to reconvene Sunday afternoon.
