Date Safe Project training in Edgar

WAUSAU (WAOW) -

Students from Edgar and Marathon High Schools took part in a Date Safe Project.

Mike Domitrz founded the program after his sister was raped.

"I looked in the mirror and said what can we do to change our culture and still have a really wonderful dating and intimate life," said Domitrz.

As part of the program he invited audience members to join him on stage for a demonstration called Can I Kiss You.

The participants do not kiss.

Instead, Domitrz has them focus on the importance of asking permission before ever touching another person.

He also gave students tools for how to help someone who is being taken advantage of without putting their own safety at risk.
