WAUSAU (WAOW) -
A Wausau church received a surprise donation.
Every Sunday, about 15 people from the Downtown Mission Church bring lunch to the Bull Falls Park for the homeless. The church is stepping up its efforts before the cold winter arrives.
Now the church is getting some unexpected help. An anonymous donor sent a package that left church leaders amazed.
"You guys did a little video segment on the 10 O'clock news about that, and just mentioned that we could use sleeping bags and mats for these folks to sleep on," said Charlie Salamone, a pastor at the Downtown Mission Church, "And today I'm sitting in my office, and UPS drops off three big boxes."
Inside of those boxes were 12 brand new sleeping bags and 12 brand new mats. The church plans to bring the supplies to the park this weekend.
