New Marathon Co. jail administrator named

WAUSAU (WAOW) – The jail administrator from Oneida County has been named to the same job in Marathon County.

Sandra La Du-Ives will take over as administrator of the Marathon County Jail on Dec. 8, Marathon County Sheriff Scott Parks said Friday.

I believe Sandra will bring a fresh perspective to not only the Marathon County Jail but also to the overall operation of the Marathon County Sheriff's Department,” Parks said in a statement.

Du-Ives replaces longtime jail administrator Bob Dickman who resigned last April, several weeks after an inmate attacked two jailers, critically injuring 36-year-old Julie Christensen.

The attack raised questions about safety in the jail and led to a special task force recommending some changes.

Du-Ives has worked as a corrections officer, law enforcement officer, deputy jail administrator and jail administrator, Parks said Friday.

Sandra has toured our facility and met with me to discuss plans for the future operation,” Parks said.
